GCC Theatrical Festival starts in Kuwait

Kuwaiti Minister of Information Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah opened here Tuesday evening the 10th Theatrical Festival of local threater bands in the six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Secretary general of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) and chairman of the organizing committee Bader Al-Refae said that more than 20 years ago, actors from the GCC countries gathered in Kuwait to launch the festival.
These festivals, Al-Refae said in the opening of the festival, Kuwait was honored to host the 10th Theatrical Festival like it had the honor to host the first festival in 1988.

The threater in the GCC countries represents the cornorstone for the construction of the much-awaited Arab Theater project, he said.
Al-Refae highlighted important role of men of letters and actors in spreading culture around the globe.

Mazyad Al-Mazyad, representative of the GCC Secretariat, said the Threatrical Festival has become a landmark in the Arab world.
The festival will last until April 8 and will feature seminars and six plays.
