Business Incubation Centre launched in EU co-funded project

A business incubation centre supported by an EU-funded programme has been inaugurated by the Head of the EU Delegation to Lebanon, Ambassador Patrick Laurent.
The South Business Incubation Centre (SouthBIC) in Saida is part of the network of Business Development Centres (BDCs) supported by the EU-funded programme ‘Integrated Support to Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises’, which has helped develop the capacity of staff at the BDCs and provided them with opportunities to learn from the experience of their colleagues in EU countries.

A press release said SouthBIC was the first incubation centre of its kind in South Lebanon. It is set up as a non-profit association by a strong consortium including the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Saida and South Lebanon, the Hariri Foundation, and the Municipality of Saida. The EU contributed with technical assistance, including European and local expertise, and co-funding up to 70 per cent of the establishment and running costs of the structure.
