Energy workshop on ‘Budget Allocation Charts’

The Euro-Med Energy Market Integration project (MED-EMIP) has organised a workshop under the patronage of the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water bringing together professionals from Energy Agencies and Ministries in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia, the European Commission, as well as representatives from regional organisations and projects, such as the Arab League, UNDP, UN-ESCWA and MED-ENEC project.

The workshop was on ‘Budget Allocation Charts’, a tool that helps to allocate financial resources in an optimal manner. A chart compares financial and economic attractiveness as well as the national potential of major technologies and measures, either to add one unit of energy as electricity through capacity expansion to the energy supply side, or save one unit on the consumer side.

A press release said the workshop marked the start of one of MED-EMIP’s programmes working with the national energy agencies and ministries for developing the charts, a process that will take till the end of the year. The MED-EMIP project provides a platform for energy policy dialogue and exchange of experiences, leading to enhanced Euro-Med cooperation, integration of the energy markets and improved security and sustainability.
