Newspapers Build Blog Networks for New Revenue

Newspapers have rapidly adopted blogs as part of their on-line offerings. Is anyone making money from them?
Guardian News and Media is one company that is.
Matt Gilbert, the Business Development Manager for Guardian News and Media, has joined the programme of the upcoming World Newspaper Advertising Conference, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, on 28 and 29 May next.

Mr Gilbert, who had extensive experience in both traditional and digital advertising before joining GNM in 2007, will present the Guardian's popular ³Environment² blog and its associated advertising network, which allows advertisers to reach valuable, specific audiences on a large number of like-minded blogs.

He will be joined on the programme by Kevin Tan, a Senior Vice President of US-based Adify, which powers The Guardian's network. Mr Tan will explain how blog networks can provide publishers with access to campaigns from high-value advertisers, content from other top publishers, and traffic from complementar sites.
