Doha Forum a platform for discussing humanitarian issues

Qatar will host tomorrow, Sunday, at the Doha Sheraton Hotel, the 9th Doha forum on democracy and free trade, and the enrichment of the Middle East economic future conference. Mr Mohammad al Rumaihi, Assistant Foreign Minister for Follow-Up Affairs and Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Conferences underlined the significance of the conference as an international event, saying that the Doha forum over the past nine years proved itself as one of most important platform for discussing and exchanging views and visions through various media means.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), H.E. al Rumaihi said the conference with more than 600 experts and dignitaries from around the world, will feature the issues freedoms, including information freedom, international governance, role of governments in the enhancement of national economies in light of the current global economic crisis, in addition to a host of other important topics of interest to human.

Matti Vanhanen (centre), the Finnish prime minister, is to travel to Qatar to attend the Doha forum on democracy and meet the country's leaders, the Finnish government said in a statement Thursday.

Mr Vanhanen is to deliver one of the opening speeches at the Doha Forum on Democracy, Development and Free Trade and meet Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the emir of Qatar, and top officials.

"Topics to be discussed include bilateral relations between the countries, climate and energy issues and the Middle East peace process," the statement said.
