DPC announces the nominees for the Arab Journalism Award

Dubai Press Club (DPC) has announced the names of the nominees for the 12 categories of the Arab Journalism Award for 2008 on Saturday.

The nominees include three Kuwaiti journalists namely Marzouq Al-Ajami - of Kuwait's Annahar newspaper, who vies for the sport press award, Mohammad Al-Husseini - of Al-Anbaa newspaper - for the best interview award, and Yasser Al-Ahmad - of Arrouiah daily - who vies for the best caricature award.

The final results of the contest will be announced during a ceremony to be held on May 12, deputy chief of the Arab Journalism Award Mona Bu-Samrah said in a press release here.

The ceremony will be held after the Arab Media Forum which will take place at Atlantis Hotel here on May 11-12 with more than 600 celebrated media people attending.

The arbitration panel of the award is made up of more than 60 notable Arab and foreign press-people with a view to ensuring the highest degree of transparency, Bu-Samrah added. The DPC has launched the new version of its website to enhance contacts with the Arab journalists and expand the cycle of participation in the award, she revealed.

The categories of the award also include reportage, cultural report, economic report, political report, environment report, information technology report, sport report, photography, and child press report.
