New political party created in Morocco

A new political party "Parti Démocrate National" (National Democratic Party) has come into being in Morocco. The new party, created at the initiative of several members of the former Parti National Démocratique (PND), affirms its commitment to the immutable values of the nation and its determination to contribute to efforts aimed at promoting the national political landscape in a spirit of tolerance, mutual respect and fruitful cooperation.

It said it puts development in rural areas through a firm fight against poverty and exclusion atop its priorities.

To this end, the party proposes a package of measures touching on social sectors, particularly health, employment, education, housing and human rights.

“We are determined to do our best to ensure balanced, sustained development in rural areas, combat all forms of poverty, marginalisation and exclusion and endeavour continuously to achieve economic, social and cultural progress,” chairman of the preparatory committee of the founding congress, Abdellah Kadiri, said.

Abdellah Kadiri was elected secretary general of the party.(MAP)
