Six films on conflict resolution are to be produced and dphases istributed to Palestinian schools and universities as a result of the EU-funded ‘Peace Education through Modern Media’ project conducted by AlQuds Educational TV / the Institute of Modern Media / AlQuds University, in partnership with the Center for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation.

A press release said the project, which has just concluded, aimed to raise awareness on the importance of communication to solve conflicts in the Palestinian society. It conducted training on conflict resolution and scriptwriting targeted at school and university students, teachers and media professionals. The best were chosen to write scripts for shortdrama films on conflict resolution.

The best six scripts will now be produced and distributed by AlQuds Educational TV. They depict real life stories and experiences of the participants, reflecting the Palestinian social reality. According to Fabienne Bessonne, Head of Social and Civil Society Section at the European Commission Technical Assistance Office, “The European Commission greatly values this project because it will enable the Palestinian young people to be the actors of positive change in their society and to contribute to a less violent environment.”

Ms. Lucy Nusseibeh, Director of the Institute of Modern Media, said that the training was exceptional and the participants showed great flexibility with the trainers, interest and capacity of understanding and dealing with the subjects of the project.

Ms. Nusseibeh complemented the trainers and trainees and explained that the institute will continue working on similar projects in cooperation with donors aiming at adding to the Palestinian communities’ quality of life.

The participants expressed their interest in having more projects and workshops in these fields because of their added value to their careers, and they thanked the Institute of Modern Media, the Center for Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation, and the European Commission for allowing them the chance to participate in this project and benefit from it.
