Algeria hosts first Forum for Maghreb Businessmen

The first Forum of Maghreb Businessmen, which will open tomorrow in Algiers, will be an occasion for business circles in the region to examine opportunities of cooperation and partnership in the Maghreb countries, and express their willingness to work together for the establishment of a genuine common economic space. Organized by the Maghreb Employers Union (MEU), the two-day meeting will bring together more than 600 businessmen from the Maghreb region to examine ways and means to enhance the creation of Maghreb economic space.

The organization of the first Maghreb Businessmen Forum shows the willingness of business circles of the region to ''work together for the emergence of a joint economic action,'' said , Boualem M'rakach, Head of Algerian Confederation of Employers (CAP) and founding member of the Maghreb Employers Union (MEU).

In this respect, M'rakach pointed out ''the economic integration of Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) is the only way and a privileged tool to bind the economic group to the global economy.''

In this respect, he noted the low level of trade between Maghreb countries, adding that the average inter-Maghreb trade does not reach 3% of global trading between Maghreb countries.
