The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) is preparing to participate in the fifty-third session of the Venice Biennale of Visual Arts in June. The participation, under the patronage of ADACH Chairman Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, will be the first that represents Abu Dhabi in this major international art event, through a broad and innovative ADACH visual arts programme.

"Such participation comes within the Authority's framework of developing artistic production, promoting cultural dialogue, exchanging experiences, and ensuring the participation of UAE creativities in major international art forums," said Dr. Sami Al Masri, Deputy Director General of ADACH.

ADACH oversees the design of a display platform for a visual art presentation in a manner that contributes to the identification the current circumstances of contemporary visual art in Abu Dhabi.

Many UAE, Arab and world artists will be participating in ADACH's platform, held on an area of more than 2,800 meters.
They include: Ebtisam Abdul Aziz, Abdalla Al Saadi, Sami Al Turki, Philippe Chancel, Catherine David, Donuts, Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim, Mohamed Kazem, Dr. Abdelrahman Makhlouf, Ahmed Matter, Kaiwan Mehta, Waël Noureddine, Juan Lucas Young, Alarcon Allen, Hassan Sharif, Dominique Roche-Teyssier, and Cécile Zoonens.

The project at the ADACH platform will be supervised by the famous art historian Catherine David.
ADACH will also be unveiling possible visions for the future of art in the overall process of cultural development in Abu Dhabi.

The project includes still and animated photographs, architectural models, and works of art aimed at changing stereotypes of the region.

It also includes a series of original modern and archival photographs, in addition to artistic photographers from the region and abroad.

An ADACH Programme on Visual Arts was launched last March to provide an opportunity for artists in the region to contribute to this cultural interaction. This was done through the establishment of a research centre for the study, preservation, recording and dissemination of the cultural heritage of contemporary Arab art; and developing the mechanisms that support artists with regard to educational effort and funding.

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development will have a pavilion of the UAE in the Venice Biennale, the first of its kind by an Arab Gulf country. This initiative is sponsored by the Emirates Foundation and the Dubai Authority for Culture and Arts, under the supervision of Dr. Lamis Hamdan, and the management of Terdad Zulgdr, under the title "Not You, But I", as the pavilion reflects documentation and technical management.

The ADACH Programme for Visual Arts aims to help artists in the region, working to improve their working conditions, and increase possibilities for domestic and international exchange.
It seeks to develop a network based on resources from people and ideas on the Internet through concrete projects.
