There are great similarities between the Bedouin heritage and traditions of Kuwait and the Egyptian Sinai, said a Kuwaiti official in AREESH  (Egypt). Head of the Kuwaiti Information Ministry's delegation to the Kuwaiti cultural festival, organized by Kuwait Embassy, Mohammad Al-Hajri told KUNA that the Gulf state's people were proud of their cultural and literary heritage.

That heritage consists of songs, poems, and stories, he said on the sidelines of his participation in a seminar on the heritage of Kuwait and Egypt.

Al-Hajri emphasized that it was important to study anthropology and to support arts that revived heritage through the theatre and cinema.

He said that the book fair, which was held on the sidelines of the festival, presented publications of several Kuwaiti bodies like Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Kuwait University (KU), Zakat House, and Al-Arabi magazine.
On his part, Kuwaiti poet Ibrahim Al-Khaldi, who took part in a poetic event here, said the festival was an opportunity to exchange expertise and to activate the role of culture and literature in bringing people closer.

Meanwhile, director of Hamad Bin Hussain popular troupe Nasser Al-Hedeba told KUNA that Kuwait and Egypt had strong relations.

He said that his troupe, which was established in 1948 as the first popular troupe in the state, presented shows in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria, and that it would be presenting a show soon in France.

The festival was inaugurated on Sunday by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Egypt Dr. Rashid Al-Hamad and Governor of Sinai Mohammad Shosha.

Speaking at a seminar held on the sidelines of the festival, Shosha praised Kuwaiti plans to invest in the governorate.

He said that Al-Kharafi Group of Kuwait had different investments here, especially in the tourism field, adding that it would establish a tourism site in the governorate.
The governorate is studying a proposal that was submitted by a company on establishing tourism, fishing, safari, and medical treatments projects, cafes, restaurants, and clubs, he added.

Shosha presented to Al-Hamad a souvenir as appreciation to his efforts in strengthening the popular and official Kuwaiti-Egyptian ties. (KUNA)
