The EU-funded innovation and technology programme Medibtikar is to hold a workshop on ‘Fostering EuroMed Business Incubation Collaboration’ in the Moroccan city of Fez on June 26. The workshop is being held during the 18th Congress of the EBN (European Business and Innovation Centre Network).

This workshop aims at looking at the networking challenge and collaborative opportunities now open to EuroMed Business Incubators. Participants will be the EIB, EBN, Medibtikar, Infodev, University of Casablanca and El Gazala.

Medibtikar’s aim through the workshop is to improve the quality of services and monitoring capabilities of incubators in the region. At least five organisations from different MEDA countries will be trained on how to improve their processes so they can be certified by EBN and join the European Business Incubators Centres club.

As a regional programme, Medibtikar aims at fostering the innovation capabilities of the Mediterranean countries which have invested in the creation of such infrastructures. Since the programme began, almost all the countries now have operational incubators in place.
The programme has worked for the past three years to increase the services that incubators are offering to companies, in particular the capacity to offer added value services to SMEs and to network with peers. The €7.3 million programme runs until the end of 2009.
