Dubai Press Club has announced the launch of a new training program for young UAE national journalists working in local media organization with a view to help develop their professional skills and competence.
Mona Al Marri, Chairperson, Dubai Press Club, said the new initiative was part of the Club's efforts at meeting the vocational requirements of the new generation of Emirati journalists.

Al Marri added:
'The program is designed in a way that jells perfectly with the professional ambitions of the young journalists as well as the requirements of the organizations they will work with.'

Al Marri explained that the Club wanted to provide high standard training programs for the growth of Emirati journalism, which would contribute to the overall development of the society.

'It will also help enhance the limits of freedoms as it equips the journalists with a strong grounding in the basics of the profession and its ethical foundations,' she pointed out.

Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director, Dubai Pres Club, revealed that the Press Club had invited the editors of local newspapers for a meeting on next Thursday to discuss the modalities of the proposed training program and to glean from them a clear understanding of the needs and aspirations of the media leaders in the country. Bin Fahad disclosed that the details of the program and admission process will soon be announced.

Dubai Press Club has launched several initiatives for the advancement of the profession of journalism and the media sector in the Arab world such as the Arab Media Forum, Arab Journalism Award and the Arab Media Outlook, all done on an annual basis. In addition to these major initiatives, the Club also holds regular workshops, seminars and conferences on issues pertaining to the media industry.
