Summit to discuss long-term goals for nuclear programmes in the Middle East

UAE. IQPC's Middle East Nuclear Energy Summit 2009 (4 - 7 October, Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, Dubai) brings together leading regional dignitaries and industry luminaries, as well as international experts to discuss critical strategies for the advancement of the dialogue towards the efficient, effective and safe development of nuclear energy in the region.

Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar will grace the conference and share his vision for Qatar. Dignitaries also include  Ali Abdulla Al Owais, Executive Director for Electricity Affairs, Ministry of Energy, UAE, who will give the welcoming address and Dr. Khalid Ahmed Bu Rashid, Deputy Chief Executive, Planning & Projects, Bahrain Electricity & Water Authority.

Over the four days, Middle East Nuclear Energy Summit highlights the essential aspects for developing a resilient and peaceful nuclear energy programme by sharing the lessons learnt from USA, France, India and Korea. Speakers include representatives from OECD, CEA, Societe Generale and Worley Parsons.

This flagship event is strongly supported by leading regional and international stakeholders including Dr. Mahmoud Nasreddine, Scientific Advisor to Secretary General, League of Arab States; Dr. Mustafa Bahran, former Yemen Minister of Energy and Electricity and Vice Chairman, Yemeni National Atomic Energy Commission; Dr. Hisham Khatib, Honorary Vice Chairman, World Energy Council Global Energy Award Laureate (2007); Lady Barbara Judge, Chairman

United Kingdom Atomic Energy Agency; Dr. Joachim Knebel, Vice President of European Nuclear Society and Head Programm Nuklear, Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe Germany and Adrian Collings, Director Policy Development, World Nuclear Association.
