Addressing the Aseela International Cultural Festival opening on Saturday, King Muhammad VI applauded all endeavors at bringing closer together nations of the South-South region (i.e. Arab, African, South American states).

In a speech read for him by his foreign minister Al-Tayeb Al-Fehri, the King extoled the Festival, in which 40 countries participate, as an apt arena where diversified dialogue and exchange of views freely take place among representatives of Arab, African, and South American states.

South-South dialogue, he affirmed, was a propitious middle ground from which North-South dialogue would be promoted, with the objective of having a world that is cohesive in its view of development and growth.

He stressed the notion of establishing closer ties between the Arab world and South American states through cultural exchanges, promotion of commercial and economic relations, and laying out a firm basis for long-term partnerships.

The festival, through its promotion today of an international forum on Arab-African-South American partnership, seeks to extend -- in an age of digital technology and globalization -- a friendly hand to all civil society organizations and governments all across Africa, the Arab world, South America, and beyond to Europe, said the King.

The forum is expected to start its activities with the participation of a large number of academics, artist and politicians.

This year's Aseela festival will hold numerous workshops, art shows, and musical concerts showcasing distinguished artists from around the world.
