Dolphin Energy Limited announced that it had reached the first of three major completion milestones for its Taweelah to Fujairah Gas Pipeline (TFP) project.
Commissioning of early gas facilities is now complete at Dolphin Energy's Gas Receipt Station that services ADWEC's new power and water desalination plant at Qidfa, Fujairah. This follows extensive modification work on one section of Dolphin's existing Al Ain to Fujairah Pipeline.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Al Ansari, General Manager, Dolphin Energy UAE, said: "This is an important development for Dolphin Energy. We are ready to deliver gas to ADWEC's tie in connection point on schedule so that they are able to fulfill their commitments. The supply of early gas means that Dolphin is able to sustain its commitment to providing important gas supply to the UAE and support industrial growth across the entire country."

Gas supply to the new ADWEC power station is integral to Dolphin's development plans to use TFP as a vital supply route for much needed natural gas to Fujairah.

In all, 240 kilometers of 48 inch gas pipeline will be laid over an environmentally approved cross-country route of desert and mountain - one of the longest and largest overland gas pipelines in the UAE. It is designed to carry significant quantities of Dolphin gas via Taweelah directly to the UAE east coast.

Dolphin Energy has been working with contractor PJSC Stroytransgaz on the construction of the pipeline. Although it experienced some construction delays in the early phases of development, the project is on track to be completed by the third quarter of 2010.

The next major completion milestone for TFP is scheduled for February 2010. This will mark the completion of approximately 127 kilometres of pipeline that extends from Dolphin's Taweelah Facility and ties in with Dolphin's existing Al Ain to Fujairah pipeline. This will then direct quantities of gas to the new power station in Fujairah until final completion of the new TFP pipeline.
