Britain's Household Cavalry Musical Ride of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, which will perform for the first time in the Middle East at Abu Dhabi's International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) in 2009, will increase the number of performances to six.

The participation aims to promote an exchange of cultures between nations and peoples, which is part of the strategy of the Abu Dhabi Authority of Culture and Heritage (ADACH).

"The increase came in response to the overwhelming public demand in the UAE for these distinctive and rare shows," said Abdullah Qubaisi, Director of Communication Department at ADACH.

ADIHEX will be held on 30th September - 3rd October 2009, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

General Lord Guthrie, head of the British delegation, hailed the hospitality of the UAE, which he has visited before, and said he was honoured to lead the oldest royal regiment in the British army in its performances in Abu Dhabi.

The trip is unique because it is the first time that the Household Cavalry has performed in the Middle East.

ADIHEX visitors are expected to be thrilled by the performance of the Household Cavalry, which will include rare displays and a special 5-minute feature dedicated to the people of the UAE.

The 28 horses and 36 soldiers that make up the Household Cavalry’s team known as 'The Musical Ride' will exhibit their traditional equine skills in iconic British ceremonial uniform set to music.

The event is considered as a celebration of the cultural ties between the United Arab Emirates and Britain, and as a gesture aimed at promoting dialogue among civilizations.
