Dubai eGovernment has unveiled its new logo in line with law number 7 of 2009 issued by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This comes in completion of the steps taken by Dubai

to convert Dubai eGovernment into an independent government department.

The launch of the new logo is in accordance with the eGovernment Strategy, which aims to raise the level of quality and increase adoption of eServices in the emirate and ultimately build an integrated knowledge-based society. This step supports the UAE Strategy to establish a new era in the delivery of government services by utilising best practices that contribute to sustainable and balanced growth.

The letter "e" of the new logo represents changes in the electronic landscape in a dynamic, transparent and resilient manner, reflecting the ambitions of the eGovernment regarding its relations with its partners and the target audience. The logo features a number of successively growing circles that evolve into a hemisphere that reflects the constantly growing achievements of "electronic transformation" and "electronic integration". This hemisphere still closely tied to a centre allows continuous cycles of successive accomplishments leading to continuous development, transformation and integration.

The calligraphic shape of the letter "e", which articulates to the right, just like the Dubai Creek is an expression of the communication and integration between technology on one side and government regulations on the other. In terms of the colours being used, red represents the government and the effectiveness of its laws while silver stands for networking technology and the power of information.

Commenting on the launch of the new logo, Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment, said: "The launch of the new logo comes in line with a series of procedures that we are implementing following the establishment of Dubai eGovernment as an independent government department.

The new procedures include the recent shifting of our headquarters to H.H. Ruler's Court, addressing all staff requirements, determining the general strategy of the eGovernment, providing guidance and supervising the 'electronic transformation' in government departments, drawing the structural framework, policies and standards related to managing information technology and its security, and providing eServices, knowledge management and human resources according to best international practices."

"Our vision is mainly based on providing government services to all citizens, residents and visitors as well as the business sector, government departments and government employees according to highest quality standards. In addition, we will simplify the procedures of dealing with the government to make life easier for the people. With this in mind, we reiterate that we will continue to exert efforts to realise our strategic goals in line with Dubai Strategic Plan 2007-2015, which aims at enhancing the emirate's position on both regional and international levels."
