Kuwait to host GCC municipal conference in 2010

Kuwait Municipality is to play host to the fifth GCC municipal conference between April 18-20, 2010, the municipality director general, Ahmad Al-Subeeh said.

The Gulf municipal meeting is mainly meant to thrash out the weak and strong points of executive municipal activities, he told a news conference in his capacity as head of the organizing committee.

During the gathering, Gulf municipal experiments will be presented through a set of significant aspects; aiming to come up with a host of practical recommendations for a quantum shift in the GCC municipal domain, he said.

The GCC work system is chiefly based on integration and cooperation in all areas, including joint municipal action intended to unify efforts and orientations with a view to nothing up mutual goals, Al-Subeeh added.

The conference involves lectures to be delivered by key speakers and specialists, working papers, researches, discussions and debates as well as field visits to some worksites, the Kuwait Municipality chief noted.

He listed the key aspects of the gathering as the role of the private sector in the implementation of development projects on the building, operating and transferring (BOT) basis, environmental issues, state structural planning based on turning Kuwait into a financial and commercial center and, finally, food security and safety.
