Jordan, Germany seal three financial deals

Jordan and Germany on Saturday signed three agreements to finance water and education projects at a cost of 12.24 million euro.

Under the deals, the sum of 4.24 million euro has been allocated to finance a water resources management project and one million euro earmarked to execute sewage projects in Karak and Kufranjeh.

Another 7 million euros will go to finance the second phase of a project to build elementary schools in underprivileged areas.

The agreements were sealed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Suhair Al Ali and the Director of the German Bank in Jordan.

Al Ali told reporters after the signing ceremony that the two sides had reached the agreements in official talks held in Bonn last November on executing a developmental cooperation programme between Jordan and Germany for 2008-2009.

The minister hailed the programme, pointing to its importance in developing the water sector in the Kingdom, through German technical assistance and financial aid. (Petra)
