Bahrain to host 37th session of Arab Labor Organization Conference

Director General of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO) Ahmad Luqman said on Saturday Bahrain has been chosen to host the 37th session of the Arab Labor conference due on March 6-13.

The organization agreed with the Bahraini Labor Ministry to prepare for the conference.

Bahrain was chosen as the venue of the conference because it is highly valued by the international and Arab organizations for its role in developing manpower, upgrading work and training regulations and implementing an insurance program for the unemployed, Luqman said.

On his part, Bahrain's Minister of Labor Majid bin Muhsin Al-Alawi said the conference's 37th session is expected to make a major shift in the quality of the joint Arab work -- and will support productivity.

Such an event will open new horizons and will yield fruitful cooperation especially after the impacts of the global credit crunch on the Arab and international labor markets, the minister added.

All Arab League member states are expected to partake in the conference.
