Experts call for engaging Arab media in communications and IT

Arab experts in Damascus called for engaging media in the execution of the Arab strategy on communications and information technology (IT).

A team responsible for the execution of the 1o-phase plan on media and communications in the Arab world said following its first meetings that it was important to benefit from the projects of the Arab League and regional organizations in Arab countries.

The permanent technical secretariat of the Arab Information Ministers Council and the Arab Communication Ministers Council should coordinate to hold a meeting on the 10-phase plan in the first half of 2010, stressed the team in its recommendations.

The team, formed by the two councils during their joint conference that was held in 2008, called for forming a committee to set mechanisms and programs to prepare the plan.

It also urged Arab media and communications bodies to contribute in designing and improving the plan's website that was launched by the Syrian Information Ministry and Telecommunications and Technology Ministry.

In addition, it urged them to participate in the meetings of the team responsible for following up on the execution of the plan.(KUNA)
