Looking back at the numerous impressive achievements that touched all walks of live , Oman must feel proud and cherished. Omanis are now witnessing one the most prosperous and stable era in their history. They are playing an active role in the development process taking place in each corner of Oman; thanks to the far sighted vision and the royal directives of His Majesty the Sultan who laid the strong basis for development in all spheres of life.

With comprehensive knowledge of his country’s history, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos understood not only the role Omanis have played over the centuries but also their potential to transform their land the condition  it had become, once again into a thriving and forward looking nation.

His Majesty the Sultan stressed “The achievements in various spheres are all aimed at realizing one noble goal - the building of the modern Omani who believes in God and is committed to maintaining his own identity, while keeping abreast of the technology, sciences, literature and arts of the age in which he lives, and reaping the benefits of modem civilization in building his country and developing his society.”

This principle and the humanitarian aspect in the relationship between Sultan Qaboos bin Said and his subjects enabled him to integrate the national unity and ensure coherence and integrity of his subjects. The humanitarian element has always been present between His Majesty the Sultan and each Omani , regardless of where he is . The relationship between the leader and his subjects is characterized by ceaseless communication and interaction.

The huge love and loyalty to His Majesty the Sultan and his subjects has perplexed the minds of analysts and critics as such love and loyalty is  not found anywhere in the world.

Despite challenges of the past 39 years, the Sultan’s commitment has never wavered. His firm belief in the future of Oman and its people along with his determination to build a just and democratic system of government, in tune with the realities of Omani society and the demands of the modem age, still holds true.

The Sultanate has made steady strides in terms of achieving the prospective sustainable development. The Sultanate is also doing well in the plans that aim at striking a real and strartegic partnership between the private sector and NGO on one side and the public sector on the other side. Such partnership is expected to meet and achieve  the interests of the nation in general.

Achieving stability is a cumbersome challenge for many countries of the world due to the sophisticated situations in many hot areas in the world. The Sultanate , thanks to the wise vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said , managed to avail security and stability for citizens as well as expatriates. This is really a great blessing we should do our best to preserve.

The impressive achievements made by the Sultanate is worthy of respect and appreciation by everyone. We are therefore required  to double our efforts to achieve further progress and prosperity and join hands with the wise leader – His Majesty the Sultan , to steer the nation to new heights of prosperity and welfare.

Within a short span of time , Oman has managed to become a modern country that has its presence in the world map ; thanks to the wise policies implemented by His Majesty the Sultan inside and outside Oman.

The annual meet-the-people tour of His Majesty the Sultan is one of the main characteristics of the Omani society. His Majesty the Sultan shows great interest in meeting his subjects , listen to their aches and problems and then take whatever action deemed appropriate to ensure prosperity for all.

The annual meet-the-people tour has its importance as its outcomes touch the different aspects of life .

In response to one of the most important aims in terms of  human resources development , the “ Omani Woman ‘ symposium was held this year (2009) at Seih Al Makarim in the wilayat of Sohar, the first leg tour for Majesty the Sultan annual meet-the-people tour this year. The symposium highlighted the achievements made by the Omani woman in all walks of life either on the national or regional or international levels. The symposium proved that the Omani woman has been an active player in the development process witnessed by the Sultanate under the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan. It also proved that His Majesty the Sultan has done everything possible to make man and woman equal in rights and obligations.

In response to the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, a symposium on the development of the agriculture sector began at the Royal Camp at Saih al Masarrat in the wilayat of Ibri. the symposium is a follow-up and implementation of the recommendations of a 2007 seminar on developing the agriculture sector and regulating the sector’s labour market, which was held at the Royal Camp in the Wilayat of Samayil.. The symposium covered a number of themes related to the development and sustainability of the agricultural sector.

One of the fruits of the meet-the-people tour was the meeting between His Majesty the Sultan and his subjects. His Majesty the Sultan meet with dignitaries and sheikhs of the al Al Batina region and Musandam governorate at Seih Al Makarim in the wilayat of Sohar on18th October 2009. The second meeting was held at the Royal Caps at Seih Al Masarat in the wilayat of Ibri and was attended by sheikhs and dignitaries of the Al Dhahira region and Buraimi governorate.

These meetings between His Majesty the Sultan and  his subject reflect His Majesty the Sultan keenness to meet Omanis and closely review their and their wilayats needs. His majesty the Sultan has given his orders to implement a number of service and development projects that cover electricity , water and health in the Al Dhahira and the Al Batina regions as well as Musandam and Al Buraimi governorates at a cost of RO.249,248,000.
