Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his accompanying delegation visit London.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, received today morning at his residence British Foreign Minister David Miliband.

They discussed cooperation and coordination between the UAE and Britain and issues of peace and justice in the Middle East and the world in the light of security and economic instability in the region due to failure of the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis.

Sheikh Mohammed briefed the British Foreign minister about the process of ongoing talks (5+1) with Iran over its nuclear programme.

Present during the meeting were HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Dubai Ruler, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates Airline, Abdul Rahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwe'e, UAE Ambassador to UK and other high ranking officials.

An FCO spokesman told Global Arab Network: "The Foreign Secretary met His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai this morning. They discussed numerous issues of mutual interest, including bilateral economic cooperation, climate change and Middle East issues. Sheikh Mohammed also has an extensive programme of senior calls over the next two days."

The spokesman added: "The strength of our bilateral relations is important for both the UK and Dubai, with huge UAE investment in the UK, a British community in Dubai of around 100,000; and growing bilateral trade relations. The UAE is the UK’s 14th biggest export market, up by 30% in 2008, and by a further 13% in the 1st quarter 2009, making it by far the UK’s largest export market in the Middle East and North Africa. As both Dubai and the UK emerge from the effects of the world economic crisis, Britain hopes to see these economic relations grow further."

Sheikh Mohammed met afternoon Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, of UK and Common Wealth, at her residence at Windsor Castle.

Queen Elizabeth and Sheikh Mohammed exchanged views on bolstering the historic relations between the UAE and Britain, particularly the cultural and humanitarian relations. The talks also covered the dire humanitarian conditions in the conflict and natural disaster zones, which imposed moral and humanitarian obligations on the international community towards the poor people worldwide.

Queen Elizabeth lauded the humanitarian stance of the UAE, which provides the medical, food and educational assistance to the poorest people worldwide, citing the efforts of the UAE charity organisations in this respect.

Before his departure to London, Sheikh Mohammed met the heads of many sub-committees set up by the Forum on Global Agenda 2009. Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was present at the meeting.

Welcoming the elite group, Sheikh Mohammed said that the UAE would continue to foster all summits of regional and international organisations working for the wellbeing of humanity and implement projects for sustainable development.

Sheikh Mohammed had a dialogue with the dignitaries and heard the heads of sub-committees explain the agenda in economic, social, educational, health, and energy spheres. Climate change was also discussed.
