European Film Festival in Lebanon: a reflection of Europe’s cultural diversity

The 16th European Film Festival organised by the EU Delegation in Lebanon in collaboration with the Embassies and Cultural Institutes of the EU Member States, is promising viewers a rich variety of European film.

The programme, which runs from 26 November to 2 December, includes a wide range of recent feature films from countries across the EU.

In a message for the festival, Head of Delegation Ambassador Patrick Laurent said: “Through this 16th European Film Festival, Europe presents itself to you in all its history, its fantasies, its dreams and its anxieties… This 16th edition is rich and varied, with realistic films, difficult films, films that are tragic or comic, which may distract you, disturb you, make you laugh or shock you, but which all together simply reflect the diversity of European culture.”

The EU supports film festivals across the Mediterranean partner countries, organising over the past year European cinema festivals in Syria, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Jordan. It also funds a regional programme, Euromed Audiovisual, which aims to contribute to intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity through support to building cinematographic and audiovisual capacity in the region.
