Oman & Cyprus to boost trade and relations

Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated in the International Exhibition of Healthy Food and Beverages and Hotels Supplies in Cyprus.

The Sultanate’s delegation was led by Yousef bin Ya’qoob Al Busaidi, member of the board of directors of the chamber’s branch in the interior region, and a number of businessmen and representatives of companies and institutions working in the food and tourism sectors in the Sultanate.

During the visit, the Omani delegates met some officials from the institutions and economic bodies in Cyprus and discussed areas of cooperation between the private sectors of both the countries, investment climate and opportunities available in both the countries.

Yousef Al Busaidi said the chamber was keen on promoting the relations between the private sectors of both the countries as well as exploring investment avenues for businessmen and entrepreneurs on both sides.

Statistics indicate that the Sultanate imported goods worth RO31 million from Cyprus, while exports are valued at RO1.5 million during 2008.

The most important goods included foodstuff, medicine, shoes and lubricants, while the main imports consisted of material construction, fish and pipes supplies. (TimesOfOman)
