Tunisia (Tunis) A new radio cooperation programme, The waves for the Mediterranean, is being launched in Tunis on 19 January, with co-financing from the EU-funded Anna Lindh Foundation for dialogue between cultures.

Following on from the success of the series and magazines co-produced until now, this new project aims at developing, strengthening and perpetuating Euro-Mediterranean radio co-productions and at supporting mobility for the sector’s young professionals, a press release said. Subjects will seek to promoted dialogue in the region.

The programme, which will be unrolled over 20 months, brings together six partners: Tunisian Radio as project leader, Radio France (France Bleu Frequenza Mora), ENRS (Algeria), SNRT (Morocco), ESAV (Superior School of Visual Arts in Marrakech - Morocco) and the network of Mediterranean broadcasters COPEAM.

Apart from producing the programmes, the project will organise eight training/co-production workshops hosted by the partners aiming at exchanging different work experiences and defining common operational methods.

The Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures is a €7 million EU-funded project which aims at bringing people and organisations of the region closer and promoting dialogue, by offering them opportunities to work together on projects in the fields of culture, education, science, human rights, sustainable development, the empowerment of women and the arts

The EU also funds 13 media projects across the ENPI under EuropeAid’s €19 million Regional Information and Communication Programme, which seeks to increase awareness and understanding among the citizens of the area, about the EU, its policies and relations with their countries.
