Digital society in Oman - OITE, ICT experts gear up for COMEX 2010

Muscat – With the vision to build a digital society in Oman, organizers of COMEX – the country’s IT, telecom and technology event, OITE, and its COMEX Advisory Committee recently convened to discuss major decisions to boost the capacity and strength of the Sultanate’s largest ICT event.

OITE’s COMEX Advisory Committee comprises the big names in the ICT sector. Present at the recent meeting were the bigwigs from the Information Technology Authority, Ministry of National Economy, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Microsoft Oman, Nawras, Emax, MG-IT, Mohsin Haider Darwish, Jawad Sultan Technologies, Jumbo Electronics, Zubair Telecommunication & Services, Photocentre, Al-Seeb Technical Establishment, SARCO, Business Software Alliance, and Mazoon, amongst others.

OITE and the COMEX Advisory Committee meeting was aimed at exchanging ideas and generating inputs on how to build a much bigger, better and more valuable COMEX 2010. COMEX 2010 Exhibition is set to be held from April 26 to 30 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, while a Conference on ICT will also be organised from April 27 to 28.

According to Sadiq Ahmed Khan, OITE’s Director for Sales and Marketing, “COMEX is a major trade fair in Oman now being organised for twenty years. We are delighted that through the years, COMEX has been an unrivalled platform for ICT companies to converge and showcase their latest products and services. With the active support and valuable inputs of the country’s top ICT players, this year’s edition of COMEX will once again prove to be a special milestone for the entire ICT industry. “OITE’s tandem with the COMEX Advisory Committee definitely creates a common goal - that is to make COMEX 2010 much bigger and even better.”

Sherwin Sevillena, OITE’s Sr. Manager for Research and Development, said that “COMEX 2010 will hold a conference that is set to be on par with the region’s major ICT conferences. The two-day ICT Conference is set to be a unique networking opportunity for ICT players, bringing in top level speakers from around the region and beyond. “As necessary preparations are now being done for the two-day conference, we, the organisers, are optimistic that the active support of the Information Technology Authority, Ministry of National Economy and the Ministry of Transport and Communications and top ICT players to COMEX 2010 will further stimulate greater growth and sustainability of Oman’s IT, telecom and technology sector and definitely create more investment opportunities”.

COMEX 2010 in its 20th successive year is the largest IT, telecom and consumer electronics extravaganzas, where leading brands converge to showcase state-of-the-art products and services. The COMEX 2010 business section will feature the latest IT solutions in action and offer a range of opportunities to visitors and delegates to explore new innovative solutions to boost business, marketing and industry development. The COMEX Shopper section is a one-stop shop where visitors can ‘test drive’ all the products on the hit list. It serves as a comprehensive showcase of the latest in technology, gadgets and consumer electronics, ensuring huge and serious buyer traffic.
