The EU-funded project Invest in MED is organizing a technical assistance mission for representatives of the Algerian business organisation (CGEA) involved in the initiative “Made in Euromed” to promote work-study programmes amongst Algerian SMEs.

An announcement said the mission, to take place between 8 and 11 February 2010 in the German cities of Munich and Berlin, will address four representatives of the CGEA who will work on structuring work-study programmes and will develop a tailored strategy to convince Algerian SMEs to adopt the system.  They will benefit from the German experience in the matter and will have the opportunity to observe how SMEs and training centres cooperate on this matter in Germany.

Invest in Med is a Euro-Mediterranean Network of organisations, funded by the EU with a budget of €9 million, committed to investment promotion and trade facilitation, strengthening SME collaboration and exchange of best practices.  It aims to increase the abilities and efficiency of Mediterranean Investment Promotion Agencies, thus enabling more foreign direct investment in the Mediterranean Partner Countries. This multi-country platform supports the economic development of the Mediterranean and reinforces cooperation between European and Mediterranean IPAs.

For several years now the relationships between companies from both sides of the Mediterranean Sea has become stronger. The business associations from Germany and Maghreb are of the opinion that these relationships can be further improved by creating a network between partners with the same goals and a guarantied quality of service to its members. Through this network interested companies can benefit from experienced organization with the knowhow to help them access new and different markets, and that will connect them to partners in the region.
