Kuwaiti Ministry of Education said that it is to organize the first electronic forum contest of the Gulf Cooperation Council states on April 17, 2010 and it will last for five days under the title of "My ambitions, a GCC innovation".

The ministry said in a press statement that the applicants should be from the citizens of the GCC states who have experience in the field of the subjectmatter, besides filling in a form containing the applicant's personal data along with the applicant's commitment to the contest's conditions and getting along with the liaison officer accredited from the cultural attache of every GCC state.

Further, the conditions provide for filling in the special form of the applicant's data through the special liaison officer of his or her own state along with keeping up-dated on the contest's items through the website (www.moe .edu.kw) of the ministry of education.

The applicants must also abide by the date of submitting the prescribed report in any of the contest's fields from Feb. 21 to Mar. 21 2010 with no reports to be received following this interval. Finally, the ministry is to defray the costs of the air tickets and residence for the winning contestants.

e-Award enriches local websites

On the other hand,  Kuwait sets up an e-Award for local websites. The e-Award is significant as it enriches the local electronic content, Secretary General of the Kuwait's electronic award Manar Al-Hashash asserted Tuesday.

Hashash told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that this award that is set up by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS) under the patronage of H.H. the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah allocates incentive sums of money for winners amounting to KD 50 thousand.

She went on to say that the sponsorship conferred by H.H. the Amir comes of H.H. belief in the necessity of pushing forward the technological advancement inside Kuwait to keep up with the times and in order to urge the Kuwaiti youth to further increase the local electronic content and upgrade its level.

Hashash said that this interest manifested itself in H.H. honoring of the winners at the prizes-handover ceremony at the first edition of the award ( 2008-2009) in what gave youth a big push toward pitching further contributions in this field.

Finally, she said that though the Kuwaiti society is marked by the widespread use of cutting-edge technological devices among its individuals at all ages, the home-grown content of electronic applications is still little and does not comply with the big number of the electronic appliances. Last but not the least, Hashash said that this award aims at stimulating the Kuwaiti individuals to build and develop any electronic project of home-grown content at any the following eight categories: e-government, e-entertainment, e-health, e-commerce, e-heritage, e-edcation, e-sciences, e-content.
