A cave dating back to the Roman Era was unearthed in Mantif town in Ariha, Idleb, northern Syria.

The almost 3.000 square meter cave dates back to the third century A.D., located in a rocky area in al-Zawiya Mountain, said Head of Idleb Antiquities Department Nicola Kabbad.

One can enter the cave through a 2 m long and 1 m wide hole. Temperature in the cave varies between 35 to 40 degrees.

Assistant Head of Archaeological Excavation Department Mr Mustafa Qaddour said different sized stalactites and stalagmites make about 80 % of the cave, adding that the vaults and tunnels inside the cave show signs of a collapse of the cave's ceiling and walls. (SANA)
