ADACH introduces "Your future Abu Dhabi library"

In conjunction with the 20th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage ADACH launched yesterday a new series of libraries with innovation library services concept to the citizen and resident of the Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Juma’a Al Qubasi , Director of the National Library at ADACH, said  “Your future library” highlights new generation of libraries in Abu Dhabi location in the physical building; bus, kiosk, digital world and mobile world that will spark the attention of all in Abu Dhabi and the United Arab of Emirates”.
A showcase on the project is being displayed at ADACH stand in the fair at hall 10.

The new Abu Dhabi libraries will be a social learning space, a lifestyle library and a place for all, user friendly, exciting, vibrant, attractive, wow with lastest collection, facilities, services, cutting edge technologies and gadgets.

Feature Zone and its Facilities
The facilities of Abu Dhabi new generation of libraries will be adopting the traditional library facilities with a creative and innovative twist so as to support the new library vision, aspiration and concept statement.It contains
Internet WIFI
Free internet access for library patron visiting the booth.
Library patron will be able to access library OPAC, databases, eBook via he/her laptop.
Do it yourself (D.I.Y) service station that allows the library patron to perform various library transactions without assistance from the staff managing the library.
The E-kiosk enables library patrons to DIY on a number of service traditionally processed at the counter; this frees up the time of staff at the counter for more meaningful work, and reduces time spent by library patrons in a queue.

Check your loan records and make payment for outstanding fines and fees.
Loan Renewal
Renew your library loan.
Membership Registration
Sign up for library membership.
Replace / lssue Membership Card
Apply for new or replace lost library membership card.
View / Book Event / Programme
View or register for library event and programmes.

Other Services
Other services include register for Email/SMS Reminder and Notification service and check the remaining balance in your payment card.

Book Search
The Book Search allows library patrons to search the library catalog to locate books, periodicals, audio/visual materials or other items within ADACH library.

Borrowing
The Borrowing Station uses the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies to produce efficency, seamless and self service library environment for library patrons to borrow and renew the library items (book, CD/DVD, audiobooks) by themselves at their convenience.

Book Drop
The book drop uses the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies to produce efficency, seamless and self service library environment for library patrons to return library items 24 hours x 7 days.

24 Hours Self Service Library Zone
An innovative 24 hours x 7 days, do it yourself (DIY) library concept with no librarians onsite; enable library patrons to come to the library, access library services and conduct library transactions at anytime at their convenience.
The services that are available at the 24 hour self service library Zone are as follows;

Book dispenser (or Book Vending Machine)
The Book dispenser (or Book Vending Machine) uses the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies to produce efficiency, seamless and self service library environment that can be easily deployed at different location in Abu Dhabi, so library patrons can borrow and return books at their convenience.

CD/DVD Dispenser (or CD/DVD Vending Machine)
The CD/DVD Dispenser (or CD/DVD Vending Machine) uses the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies to produce efficiency, seamless and self service library environment that can be easily deployed at different location in Abu Dhabi, so library patrons can borrow and return CDs/ DVDs at their convenience.

OPAC
This allows the library patron to search library materials through the kiosk.

Book Drop
The Book Drop uses the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies to produce efficiency, seamless and self service library environment for patrons to return library items 24 hours x7days
E-Kiosk allows the library patron to perform various library transactions such as:
·    Check My Account/Payment
Check your loan records and make payment for outstanding fines and fee
·    Loan Renewal
Renew your library loan.
·    Membership Registration
Sign up for library membership.
·    Replace /Issue membership card
Apply for new or replace lost library membership card.
·    View \ Book Event \Programme
View or register for library events and programme.

Enquiry
Ask a Librarian on reference enquiry, library services, library online catalogue search help and so on.

Music Stop
The Music Stop music facilitates users listening to CDs audio book in the while they are there.

Kids Zone
Fun & learning environment with collections from educational toys, books, CDs\DVDs periodical for children age group from 6-12 and teenager 13-14yrs.

Mobile Library Zone
Digital Library Zone (popular games, play station and Xbox for  teenager ; eContents and eBooks Multimedia , eContents: eBook and database Games E-learning , ebook Readers

Interactive Kiosk
The SmartShelf System uses the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies to track status of times on items on library shelves as in real time. The system also enables librarians to take stock of the books in real time within minutes. Library users will no longer be frustrated in their search for a misplaced or lost book that the current library OPAC system wrongly designates as available. The SmartShelf System will provide the users with the exact locations of available books. The library can collect statistics on the popularity of the books based on the frequency a reader browses them, helping in decision-making about additional copy acquisitions.
