Tunisia (Tunis) - Participants in the International Symposium on Teaching Religious Sciences in Higher Education, held in Tunis by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), in cooperation with Al-Zaytouna University, stressed the need to conduct more specialized symposia on the different disciplines of Islamic sciences, within the framework of cooperation between ISESCO and Islamic universities.

They also called for a further cooperation and coordination in the areas of training and research between the Islamic and Western universities on the one hand, and the research centers, on the other hand.

In the same vein, they underscored the importance of utilizing modern technologies for an easier access to religious education, and called for more training sessions and specialized workshops on such topics as teaching methods, evaluation and curricula intended for the different education stages. To this end, the participants suggested that a specialized commission be set up to devise an action plan for developing programmes in religious education and scientific research.
