Abu Dhabi: Would the best Arab talent poet be a female?

One week left to know the best poet of the Arab World as the final phase of Arabs’s biggest Nabati poetry TV competition “Million’s Poet” has started last Wednesday.
Five finalist poets from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait stood before the jury panel to prove their poetical ability by delivering poems on topics chosen last week.

In this phase poets are given a total points of 60 by the jury panel, 30 points were given this week and the rest 30 will given next week. While the public voting which started from last Wednesday and will continue till the end of next Wednesday episode will give the finalist 40 points. Poet with highest points will be awarded the first prize of UAD 5 million ($1,362,000)

Among the finalist Saudi poetess Hissa Hilal famous for here harsh criticize for miss used Fatwas in the Islamic world. This time Hissa delivered a poem on media describing it as a tool to spread out booth the evil and the good news. She declears through the poem here personal support for enlightened media in its battle against darkness and censorship. In the same time she appreciated the role of martyr journalist who sacrifices their life for truth. The jury give Hissa the highest points in the episode; 28 out of 30.

This score opened the door for speculations that she may be the first poetess to win the title in the history of the program, and would be a big surprise in the Nabati world where it is a mail zone.

Another poet from Kuwait, Sultan Al Asaimar gained the same points as Hissa (28 out of 30) for a powerful poem on terrorism. He describe terrorist as who thinks he owns the earth and people and madly wants to create a change even if he had to destroy young child smile. It is like cancer in the brain …its eco bombs and explosions. No homeland for terrorism only the heart of aggressor.

Poet Fallah Al Moragi from Kuwait was given 27 points for his poem on describing the history, geography, people and heritage of the Arabian Gulf Region in a beautiful style.
The other two poets were given 26 points each. Jazaa Al Boqami from Saudi Arabia delivered a poem on women; praising this magical creature who suffer over ages from Ignorance and injustice. Poet Nasser Al Ajmi from Kuwait delivered a poem on the armed forces where he described the brave and loyal solders defeating enemies and protecting the land.

All poets also delivered short poems in improvising a popular poem by poet Muqham Al Saqri.

The journey to the million may be easier as winner poet of last year season Zyad bin Hjab Bin Naheab from Saudi Arabia declared that he will not participate in the final to defeat his title.   
Till next week all Arabs eyes are on the top five poets wandering who will make it to the final. 

The show, sponsored and produced by Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage,  presents 48 poets, carefully selected by a panel of experts on Nabati poetry (dialect poetry), from thousands of applicants after a six-week tour of the Arabian Gulf countries with contestants from all over the Arab world. The poets will battle it out, seeking to impress the jury and the audience with their poetic skills, in the hope of making it through to the grand final.

Contestants are judged using a mixture of jury votes, live audience votes via the in-theatre voting pods and SMS voting throughout the weeks. The Millions’ Poet who wins first place will receive an increased grand prize of 5 million AED ($1,362,000), second place will be awarded 4 million AED ($ 1,090,000), third place 3 million AED ($ 817,000), fourth place 2 million AED ($ 545,000) and fifth place 1 million AED ($ 272,000). The prize money for all contestants will total 22 million AED (more than $ 4 million).
