EU-funded TV magazine to zoom in on cooperation in Algeria

The latest edition of the EU-funded EuroMed-News TV magazine broadcast by Algeria’s EPTV will be aired on Saturday, April 3 after the 6pm TV news, focusing on a number of EU-funded projects in the country.

The ‘Joussour’ magazine will carry two reports on the EU-funded PADSELNEA programme, one on inhabitants of the locality of Beni Souik in the province of Biskra, 500km south east of Algiers, who have benefited from the rehabilitation of an irrigation source, a small project with an important socio economic impact on the entire region. The second will focus on proximity projects launched in the remote locality of Drea in the province of Souk Ahras some 600km east of Algiers, which have allowed a great number of rural women to improve their living conditions.

In between these two items will be a report on the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), which was the subject of a training session in Brussels attended by a number of journalists from the southern Mediterranean. These training sessions, in which a journalist from Algerian Television took part, allowed journalists to tackle important issues related to the ENP.

The EuroMed-News project aims to broaden knowledge about the EU's policies in the region and the relationship between the EU and individual Mediterranean countries. Spearheaded by France Télévisions, it brings together broadcasters in Europe and in Algeria, Jordan, Libya, Syria, Morocco and Lebanon. Together, they will produce 300 news features, 40 short current affairs programmes and nine 26-minute documentaries.

EuroMed-News is funded under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) through EuropeAid’s €19 million Regional Information and Communication Programme.
