Kuwait to develop and refurbish sanitary networks with cost of $700 million

Kuwaiti Ministry of Public Works is currently carrying out several sanitary projects nationwide at a total cost of KD 200 million (approximately USD 700 million), a senior official said.

The ministry's sanitary engineering sector is seeking to develop and refurbish sanitary networks in general, and to erect purification and pumping stations, chief engineer of the sector Mahmoud Karam told a weekly gathering.

The sector attaches much attention to the recycling of wastewater and implementation of relevant projects, he said, describing Kuwait as a pioneering country in this respect.
Concerning Mishref wastewater recycling station, he said the station is expected to re-operate within four months' time, but he said it could take nearly one year to complete all relevant repairing works.

For his part, acting director of the ministry's execution department, Mansour Bumajdad, said the underway projects include the replacement of sewage networks and establishment of new sewage stations.

The department has already established an integrated sewage network to exploit recycled water at the border areas, he added.
