Egypt Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif expected that the economic growth rate to rise to 6% in 2010-2011.

The economic growth in FY 2009-2010 reached 5.01 percent, exceeding the government's plans, he said in statements following the inauguration of two hospitals in Helwan.

President Hosni Mubarak is following up projects being carried out within the framework of his electoral program, he said, referring to the meeting held with the president last week.

Innovation and development
On the other hand, Nazif had talks with Craig Mundie, the chief research and strategy officer of Microsoft Corp on technological innovation and development policies and ways to boost the corporation's investments in Egypt, especially in research fields.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Tareq Kamel.

Talks also covered Microsoft's programs to help young Egyptians to acquire the technological skills of the 21st century and Egyptian computer wizards to develop their research abilities.

Mundie's visit is his third to Cairo to promote cooperation ties and the aim of his current visit is to discuss the establishment of a new center for computing services to make Egypt one of the main providers of this service in the Middle East, the minister Minister of Communications and Information Technology Tareq Kamel told a news conference that he held jointly with the Senior Microsoft official.(SIS)
