Algerian Television highlights EU cooperation with a focus on youth

Algerian Television will broadcast a magazine, tomorrow Saturday 24 April, produced by the EU-funded project Euromed News, highlighting the EU to Algeria cooperation, with a focus on youth.

The programme, to be broadcast on the national Television EPTV just after the 18.00 news, will feature three reports. The first will be dedicated to the closure of the ONG2 project which was marked by the holding of a national symposium in the province of Tipasa west of Algiers. The assessment of the project was high on the agenda of this symposium attended by the EU Head of Delegation to Algeria, the minister of national solidarity, as well as a great number of associations which benefited from EU support in the framework of the ONG2 project.

The second report highlights the work of an association for the promotion of youth in the province of Tizi Ouzo, east of Algiers, which benefited from EU support, in leading important actions such as training sessions and various entertainment activities.

The programme concludes with a report on another association, “for a happy childhood" in Ghardaïa, which, thanks to EU support, is a very active. It has organized a Maghreb event on how to encourage children to read.

The EuroMed-News project aims to broaden knowledge about the EU's policies in the region and the relationship between the EU and individual Mediterranean countries. Spearheaded by France Télévisions, it brings together broadcasters in Europe and in Algeria, Jordan, Libya, Syria, Morocco and Lebanon. Together, they will produce 300 news features, 40 short current affairs programmes and nine 26-minute documentaries.

EuroMed-News is funded under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) through EuropeAid’s €19 million Regional Information and Communication Programme.
