Yemen, Oman - joint cooperation in fisheries research

Sheikh Mohammed bin Ali al Qatabi, Oman Fisheries Minister received in Muscat Mr Mohammed Saleh Ali al Shamlan, Fisheries Minister of the Yemeni Republic and his accompanying delegation, who is on an official visit to the Sultanate.

The meeting discussed cooperation in the areas of fisheries between the two brotherly countries.

Meanwhile, an official talks session was held between the Sultanate and the Yemeni Republic.
During the meeting, the two sides have agreed to set up implementation programmes for what had the two sides agreed upon, activating the joint cooperation in the area of the fisheries researches, the possibility of conducting joint fisheries researches on the migratory fish, as well as, the joint coordination in the control activities and exchange of information.

The two sides discussed means of increasing fisheries inter-trade between the two countries, encouraging establishment of joint fisheries ventures between businessmen in both countries. The meeting also reviewed the Sultanate's experience in ports management and fisheries management, particularly the tuna and Lobster.

The talks session was attended by Dr. Hamad bin Said al Oufi, Undersecretary of the Fisheries Ministry, Abdulrahman Khamis Ubaid, Yemen's ambassador to the Sultanate, a number of officials at the Ministry and the delegation accompanying the Yemeni Minister.

Meanwhile, the Yemeni Minister and his delegation visited the Marine and Fisheries Sciences Centre and Fish quality Assurance Center. (ONA)
