The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (CCAB) has established a committee to bolster commercial relations with Arab states, said Mr Vladimir Fariha, Vice President for international commerce of the chamber.

Speaking to KUNA, the official said during a workshop held at the Brazilian Embassy in cooperation with CCAB that it was important to increase the commercial exchange between Brazil and the Arab world, saying that such step could be done at several commercial levels with tourism being one of the options.

There was a slight increase in commercial exchange between Brazil and the Arab states, namely the GCC countries, said Fariha, affirming that the establishment of the committee had indeed benefited this cause.

Arab states could invest in the USD 500,000-infrastructure tenders to produce clean energy, revealed the official.

Brazil exported US$ 2,29 billions to the Arabs - This was the total revenue in exports from January until March in 2010. When compared to the same period in 2009 there was a significant growth in sales of paper, inorganic chemical products and gold.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce has been active for over 57 years now on its mission to enhance economic, cultural and tourist exchange between Brazilians and Arabs. Over the years, the Chamber has come to play a pivotal role in the development of foreign trade between Brazil and the Arabs.

Representing Brazil in the League of Arab States – an organisation comprising 22 independent countries whose official language is the Arabic –, the Arab Brazilian Chamber is renowned for its credibility and strong presence as the champion of the interests of Arab and Brazilian businessmen alongside institutions, governments and companies.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber is affiliated with the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Arab Countries, which is acknowledged as the sole legitimate representative of the commercial interests of the countries affiliated with the League of Arab States.

In order to attain its goal of creating opportunities, establishing new trade partnerships and fostering business, the organization, which also has offices in the cities of Curitiba and Belo Horizonte, provides a host of basic services, performed by highly skilled professionals, such as: commercial consultation, market surveys, information on public tenders, changes in tax/financial laws, consumption and trade habits, document translation, advertisement, and product labelling and packaging, thus enabling clients to adapt to their target markets.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber also offers a document certification service that guarantees the origin of products and services to Arab importers. Certificates are issued under strict observance of the requirements and procedures demanded by importers.

Last year, the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce entitled Electronic Book-Entry Collection, for Certification process fees concerning exports to the 22 countries in the League of Arab States, replacing the Electronic Bank Receipt system.

The new system has been in operation since August 2009. The exporting companies or their attorneys receive the Certification fee bank slip in a previously informed e-mail address; payment is made via the Internet, eliminating the need for clients to go to a bank branch or to the Arab Brazilian Chamber headquarters in São Paulo. If needed, the authenticated receipt will remain available for printing on the site for 30 days.

Now, the organization innovates once again by expanding the tracking of steps and processes. Exporting companies or their attorneys, which were already able to monitor all of the steps in document Certification for exporting to the Arab world on the Internet, will now be able to keep track while their processes are at the Embassies, up until the end of the procedure. Upon delivery of the documents, clients will receive a protocol that enables process tracking, including a login name, the company’s number in the National Registry of Legal Entities, and a password, which may be changed.
