Oman Qatar Business Council – Tangible bilateral relations

The third meeting for the Omani-Qatari Business Council will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) in Doha. The Sultanate's delegation to the meeting will be led by Khalil bin Abdullah al Khunji, Chairman of OCCI.

In a statement, OCCI Chairman said that the Omani-Qatari relations have witnessed tangible developments in all fields, especially in economy in a bid to enhance the joint ties between the two brotherly countries and in response to the directives and brotherly links of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar. ‘This is clear from the size of reciprocal trade as the size of trade exchange and joint investment have witnessed remarkable growth.

He pointed out that the Omani-Qatari Business Council seeks to coordinate trade and investment ties among businessmen and investors in both countries. One of the fruits of the Council is the establishment of the Omani-Qatari companies. The Council also coordinates with respective authorities to facilitate investment and enhance trade exchange.

The agenda of the meeting includes a number of topics including following up the approved items, such as, amending the agreement on the establishment of the

Omani-Qatari Business Council to keep pace with the recent economic developments. It will also discuss the equal treatment principle in terms of establishing national companies in both countries and streamline the efforts regarding future cooperation in food security.

It will also discuss some proposal to increase efficiency of the Council and find suitable solutions for the impediments that hinder activating trade activity among businessmen in both countries and facilitate the difficulties that may face them in the future.

The meeting comes within the joint cooperation between the two countries and out of the Council's keenness to hold bilateral meeting to continue economic cooperation in various fields and follow up the development and the items agreed upon at the previous meetings. (ONA)
