Tunisia - Green Morocco Plan Presented at Arab Agricultural Engineers Union Congress
Tunisia (Tunis) - The Moroccan delegation participating in the Congress of the Arab Agricultural Engineers Union, held in Tunis, presented the broad lines of Green Morocco Plan, which is based on a comprehensive approach of sustainable development.

The Congress organized on "the Arab Complementarily in Developing Farming Education and its Role in Achieving Food Security", the delegation highlighted the approach adopted in the Green Morocco Plan, which combines all the partners in development efforts to maximize benefit from synergies and interaction among the different stakeholders.

Green Morocco Plan, which combines investments with the idea of "social agriculture", seeks to make of the agriculture sector a leading economic lever, and will have a significant impact on growth and the fight against poverty.

The delegation underscored the role of education and scientific research in the implementation of   the Green Morocco Plan programs, noting that Moroccan agricultural higher education institutions have so far trained nearly 15,000 executives.

Scientific research helps improve plant and animal productivity, achieve food security while conserving natural resources and developing the competitiveness of domestic agriculture, said the Moroccan delegation.

Touching on Arab cooperation, the delegation stressed that Arab countries are called to develop joint cooperation programs in priority areas including climate change, water conservation, the fight against disasters and diseases, and plant and animal breeding.

It also called for enhancing the exchange of experiences and technologies transfer, and for developing capacities to boost training and research institutions.

The Moroccan delegation is composed of agricultural engineers and executives of the Ministry of Agriculture.
