Everest Summit - The Omani Adventurer Khalid bin Sulaiman al Siyabi (37 years) has made an unprecedented achievement by climbing Everest Summit, the highest summit in the world ( about 8848 meters above the sea level) to be the first Omani to make this achievement.

The Omani adventure reached the top of the mountain at 10.15 Sultanate timing after a journey which took about two months.

Al Siyabi mission has been crowned with success after he, alongside with a team of adventurers from Turkey , Finland, U.S.A, U.K , Ireland, Australia and Argentina , spent about 60 days in training and trying to climatize . The adventurers were divided into four camps on the top of the mountain on the China/Nepal borders.

After raising the Sultanate's flag on Everest Summit, al Siyabi said that his mission was not easy it faced some risks including the fluctuating  weather conditions which led to some ice slips, severe cold , which may sometimes reach -50 and strong wind which delayed the climbing mission more than once. One of the major challenges he faced was the lack of oxygen.

He added' the climbing stages were tough and difficult and forced some members of the team to withdraw. This did not relinquish his determination especially he had in mind that the Sultanate celebrates the 40th National Day anniversary. He had nothing but this to express his loyalty and allegiance to the leader of the blessed march,, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said . He wanted also to make a historic achievement that contribute to raising awareness of the countries of the world about the Sultanate's rich history and culture. He was also driven by a sincere desire to be a model for Omani ambitious youths who can overcome whatever difficult challenges they may face. He affirmed that this achievement will be added to the previous achievements made by Omani youths in the different fields.

It is worth mentioning that climbing Everest Summit is not the first achievement for the adventurer Khalid al Siyabi as in 2009 he was the first Arab to climb Bimori mountain , one of the most dangerous Himalaya mountains ( about 7145 meters above the sea level). (ONA)
