Kenya, Egypt: Boosting African Cooperation in Oil

Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga, accompanied by Egypt Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmi, visited a centre for compressed natural gas conversion and fuelling of cars.

The visit aimed at getting acquainted with the economic and environmental benefits of the project and making use of it later in Kenya.

Fahmi reviewed the outcome of the project since its establishment in 1996, referring to more than 122,000 vehicles operating with natural gas which are being served by 119 stations. A total of 62 CNG conversion centres are operating in Egypt, he said.

He asserted that Egyptian-African cooperation in the field of oil is a main strategy for the Ministry of Petroleum.

The Kenyan premier was impressed by the distinguished performance at the centre and showed interest in drawing on Egyptian expertise in this domain.(SIS)
