Syria and Iran has signed a memo of understanding in the domain of industry, banking, technology and technology transfer in the framework of the Investment Conference.

In a statement to SANA, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdullah al-Dardari said that the memo of understanding signed includes important spheres of cooperation as 14 industrial projects were chosen in addition to establishing a joint investment holding company.

He added that the memo of understanding also includes cooperation in the field of scientific research, technology transfer, banking and insurance, pointing out that an Iranian bank will be established in Syria in addition to insurance companies in the framework of the close economic and political relations between the two countries.

He added that the Syrian-Iranian economic relations will take into consideration investment in the private sector including all the Syrian provinces to achieve a balanced development.

For his part, Iranian First Deputy President's Assistant Dr Ali Agha Mohammadi said that Syrian and Iranian ties are based on strategic relations, adding that the trade and economic relations should be further enhanced to reach the level of the standing political relations.

He pointed out to the importance of overcoming all the obstacles hindering these relations and working on broadening cooperation prospects.

Mohammadi said that Iran sends a message through the participation in the conference, in which Iran highlights desire to boost relations with Syria. An economic delegation will visit other provinces to study possibilities of carrying out investment projects accordingly.(SANA)
