In the presence of the higher education ministers of both countries, France and Egypt inked two agreements to boost scientific and university cooperation.

The first deal is between the Institut Gustave Roussy in France and Egypt's Ain Shams University to conduct tumor research studies.

The Cultural Office of the Egyptian Embassy in Paris and the Ecole Supérieure d'Interprètes et de Traducteurs (ESIT) signed another agreement to exchange information and upgrade research and education programs.

Egyptian Higher Education Minister Hani Helal and his French counterpart Valerie Pecresse had met before the inking ceremony to discuss cooperation between the two countries.

Preparations of France-Africa summit

Egypt Minister of Trade and Industry Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed discussed with French Economy, Industry and Employment Minister Christine Lagarde arrangements of the economic file of the upcoming France-Africa summit, slated for Monday in France's Nice city.

In statements following the talks, Rasheed said a number of workshops are to be held in which he will present Egypt's view on the future of economic development in the African continent and means to improve the efficiency and performance of African companies and funding institutions to increase their competitiveness.

At the conclusion of a conference on investments and funding for basic infrastructure projects of the Union for the Mediterranean (UPM), Rasheed said Egypt has made a list of economically and socially beneficial projects to be proposed to the InfraMed, the first long-term investment fund and financing facility of the Union for Mediterranean which was launched in Alexandria, Egypt, on April 30.
