Egypt Trade and Industry Minister Rasheed Mohamed Rasheed tackled with Brazilian Ambassador in Cairo Cesario Neto means of boosting economic and trade relations in the coming phase.

Talks also took up the latest developments regarding signing a preferential trade agreement between Egypt and the Mercosur group of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, Rasheed said in statements to press.

The talks also touched on ways to expand trade ties and explore new aspects of cooperation between Egypt and Brazil to establish joint projects, especially in such fields as food, agriculture, construction materials, textiles and engineering industries, he said.

The Egyptian government encourages Brazilian companies to invest in Egypt and benefit from economic reforms in the country, he added.

The volume of trade exchange between the two countries saw remarkable progress in 2009, reaching $1.4 billion, he added.(SIS)
