$28.936 Million Trade Exchange - Nigerian Businessmen Seek Syrian market

Syria (Damascus) - Nigerian businessmen on Thursday expressed desire to enter the Syrian market and activate economic cooperation with Syrian businessmen.

During a meeting with members of the Board of Damascus Chamber of Commerce, a delegation representing Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Mining of the Nigerian State of Kaduna reviewed the investment opportunities and potentials available in their country in light of the big markets they have which are open to Syrian products.

They invited Syrian businessmen to participate in their various economic activities including the Kaduna International Trade Fair, hoping for opening new prospects of cooperation to help increase trade exchange between Syria and Nigeria.

Chairman of Damascus Chamber of Commerce Ghassan al-Qalla stressed the importance of exploring new areas of business cooperation with Nigerian businessmen, counting on the Syrian-Nigerian Business Council to provide all necessary data to activate the bilateral economic and investment relations.

Trade exchange between both countries reached in 2008 SYP 1. 36 billion ($28.936 million), with the main Syrian exports to Nigeria are soap, tobacco rolls, fabric and home refrigerators, while the imports are sesame and rice for the most part.(SANA)
