Oman, Austria discuss auditing cooperation

Austria (Vienna) - Sayyid Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif al Busaidi, Chairman of Oman State Audit Institution (SAI) held official talks session with Dr. Josef Moser, President of the Court of Audit in Austria and Secretary General of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) within the framework of his current official visit to the Federal Republic of Austria.

During the session, aspects of cooperation between SAI and the Austrian Court of Audit and means of developing relations between them were discussed.

The talks session's agenda touched on a number of topics including the SAI possibility to take part in training programmes in monitoring performance and information technology (IT), besides discussing best procedures and practices pursued to follow up and draft audit reports.

The agenda also included discussing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) project on a number of areas, which included exchanging expertise that aim at improving courses of general and foreign auditing, vocational training, developing vocational skills of staff from the Omani and Austrian sides, exchanging information and documents on vocational activities of both sides, in addition to, organizing research projects and joint auditing activities as per a programme agreed upon by the two sides.

On his turn, the Omani delegation gave a detailed presentation by Mohammed bin Hassan bin Ali al Shehi, Director General of Monitoring Governmental Departments and Institutions in which he touched on the basic Law of the State and the SAI Law.  He also touched on the SAI progress stages, methods pursued in auditing operations and the departments, which are subject to SAI monitoring.

The talks session was attended by Dr. Badr bin Mohammed bin Zahir al Hin'ei, Sultanate's ambassador to the Federal Republic of Austria, the delegation accompanying SAI Chairman and a number of officials at the Austrian Court of Audit. (ONA)
