Aliqtisadi Magazine publishes top 100 Syrian businessmen list in 2010

Aliqtisadi Magazine, Syria's leading biweekly business magazine, issued "Aliqtisadi 100" the list of the top 100 businessmen of Syria in 2010. The list, originally published in 2009, was a groundbreaking success and milestone in the Syrian media scene. It has become a point of reference for investors, businessmen, and anyone wanting to know more about Syria's business elite and where it is heading.

The list of the top 100 businessmen (ranked in alphabetical order) took 12-months to prepare by a team of dedicated journalists and researchers specialized in the Syrian business scene. Hamoud Almahmoud, Executive Editor-in-Chief of Aliqtisadi, said:"The criteria of choosing people for 'Aliqtisadi 100' was based on the overall presence of the businessmen in the business scene in Syria, including new investments in 2009-2010, revenues, import and export numbers, number of companies, company size in employee number, and media presence."

24 names included in 2009 were dropped off the list in 2010, while the names of 12 expatriate businessmen were added, only those, however, who have business investment inside Syria..

Industrialists had the lion's share of the list, with 46 names, while trade had 39%. The top 100 had 960 Syrian companies in total, while they still had additional investments in the US, Europe, Asia, and the MENA region.
